FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Is Assemblies of God World Missions Military Ministries the same as the chaplaincy?
A. No. The military chaplaincy is part of Assemblies of God US Missions and is responsible for the endorsing of AG chaplains in each branch of the military and other organizations. AGWM Military Ministries is part of Assemblies of God World Missions that focuses on planting non-government affiliated churches near U.S. military installations around the world in an effort to serve the large population of Americans living there, as well as local people groups.
Q. Why have I never of heard of this ministry before?
A. Since the end of World War II, AGWM Military Ministry churches have been located in Europe and Asia-Pacific, ministering to military families. However, AGWM Military Ministries does not have an official representative to promote the ministry and share the passion for military families like other ministries do. We are now taking steps to bring awareness to our efforts and communicate the many opportunities within AGWM Military Ministries.
Q. What positions are currently available in AGWM military Ministries?
A. Due to the transitional nature of our ministry, there are always opportunities to serve. We have communities without churches and existing churches who need full time or temporary pastors, worship leaders, youth pastors, and children's pastors. Our churches have the same needs as any church in the USA; we’re just in another country.
Q. How is AGWM Military Ministries supported?
A. As part of Assemblies of God World Missions, each pastor and staff member has missionary status with the Assemblies of God. Local churches are largely self-supporting with the exception of the salaries of the missionaries working there. Because of the constant state of transition in the military community, supporting the full time salary and benefits of a staff is very, very difficult.
Q. I would like to get involved in AGWM Military Ministries; what is the next step?
A. Complete the form on the “Join Our Team” page. Once submitted, you will be contacted by the regional coordinator of the area you are most interested in. If you don’t know where you would like to serve, both coordinators will contact you. After that, you will be directed to complete an application with Assemblies of God World Missions.
